Immortality Pt. 6

Glen faces a new generation of wrestler fans who have grown up hating him.

London, England

Summer 2000

The 1990s had turned out to be one of the most difficult decades of Glen’s life, even in comparison to the trauma of the Vietnam War in the 60s.

At least in the war Glen had a purpose; the last 10 years had just been him wandering through an unfulfilling wrestling career.

Sure, the agent he took on in 1993, Thomas Torbenson, had got him back on top, but Glen wasn’t always sure the price was worth it.

With the guidance of his agent, he cheated in practically every match, which made him further reviled by his fans. And he certainly never had the moral standing to approach his ex-wife and daughter whom he did miss.

Charlene and Goldie, the two most important girls in his life. Well, they weren’t exactly in his life since Charlene accurately painted him as an abusive drunk at the divorce proceedings and took 100% custody of their daughter.

Glen hadn’t seen Goldie since 1990. Ten years.

But now a new chapter had begun with Glen joining a newly formed wrestling promotion based in the UK named 21st Century Wrestling. It was ironic considering he was a wrestling relic from his heyday in the 70s and 80s.

“Glen, you good here?”

The legendary wrestler ran a hand through his now-silver hair and grimaced before looking back at his agent.

“Yeah, I’m ready.”

GGM was about to walk out onto a stage outside a sports arena in London as a part of a kickoff for the new wrestling promotion. Several of 21w’s top roster signings were here as part of a publicity event to draw interest.

But Glen knew what reaction awaited him. It was the same reaction he’d been getting for over a decade.

As he walked out, the throng of wrestling fans gave him that reaction.

BOO!!!
