With a focused grunt, Seth exerted all of his strength while Sean held his fingers softly under the bar. Even in their prime twenty years ago, he never saw Seth this strong. It was like Seth had been channeling all of those years of self-doubt and guilt into accomplishing what he wanted here in the present.
Sean was incredibly proud of his little brother.
After successfully defending the Golden Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship against Bounce Squad, the two brothers had plenty to be proud of.
The bar clanked back onto the rack of the chest press bench, and Seth sat up with a sweating, red face. With everything going their way, the Wild Kards weren’t slacking off; it was another day in the Golden Pro Wrestling Academy gym.
“Oh shit, Sean!” Seth exclaimed. “40-something years old and I’m still setting new personals!”
Sean walked around from the back of the bench and slapped Seth on the back.
“You’ve still got it!” Sean joked.
The younger Wild Kard grabbed his water bottle from the floor and took a quick slug before smiling up at Sean.
“Man, I can’t believe how far we’ve come,” said Seth, blinking his eyes in realization of their present situation. “First, no one thought we’d ever wrestle together again. Then we got our asses handed to us in Season 1, but sure enough by the end of Season 2, we got back on top!”
Sean ran a hand through his orange and black hair and took a seat on the next bench over.
“Well, Seth, if I remember one thing from when we were younger, it’s not becoming champions that’s the hardest part…”
“It’s staying champions!” interjected Seth, finishing Sean’s sentence for him.
Sean smiled both outwardly and inwardly. When they were younger, he might be worried about Seth’s focus, but nowadays, Seth was dialed in.
