Just Take This

Dr. Dean convinces Decade to try a medicine before his match.

Decade fidgeted on the exam table in Dr. Dean’s patient room, which made him visibly nervous to the head physician of the Greater Memphis Psychiatric Institute.

The room was sterile and uninviting, and Decade knew it simply wasn’t designed to make patients relaxed.

“Now, my young patient, no need to be concerned. This procedure is entirely safe, I assure you.”

The young wrestler from Canada wasn’t very re-assured. But, he was desperate to gain an edge with his upcoming match for the Silver Championship against King Crab Mack at Starfall.

If it meant turning to medicine to deal with his volatile alter-ego and regain the composure that made him competitive, he was willing to do it.

However, if this was so safe and benign, why did Dr. Dean feel the need to have Orderly Summers and Orderly Caruso in the room?

“Okay, Dr. Dean, I’ll try to relax a bit,” Decade replied.

“Good, good. Please go ahead and extend your arm, will you?”

Decade did as he was instructed and showed Dr. Dean his forearm. The doctor leaned forward with the syringe while his white coat draped over his shoulders and around his knees.

“You’ll just feel a pinch, and that’s it, okay?” instructed Dr. Dean with a calm voice while prepping Decade’s arm by inducing veins to pop.

Dr. Dean stuck the end of the needle into Decade’s largest forearm vein and slowly squeezed the syringe.

Decade could feel the green fluid entering his blood stream while the Orderlies watched intently. They seemed ready for anything

Dr. Dean just placed the empty syringe on a tray and sat back in his chair while watching Decade intently.

After a few moments, Decade felt his heart begin to pound wildly, almost as if it would burst out of his body. He clutched his right hand across chest and focused on his breathing.

“Good, it’s working, my young patient,” said Dr. Dean.

Decade looked up and saw that Dr. Dean was grinning, and then everything went black.
