Tap Tap Tap

Dr. Dean revs up the engine of his war machine for Season 6.

He flicked the light switch to the long sterile hallway of the Greater Memphis Psychiatric Institute and watched as the large hanging fluorescent lights lit up one-by-one.

The illumination and buzzing sound from the lights stirred up the prisoners patients under his control care.

Individually, Dr. Dean considered them the worst of Memphis’ mentally ill.

Criminals, and psychopaths, the lot of them, Dr. Dean thought to himself while stroking his goatee with his thumb and index finger.

Since the beginning of Golden Pro Wrestling, Dr. Dean had participated in a work-release program that allowed his patients to compete as professional wrestlers. He considered it “reintegration” and a “public service,” but it was little more than a financial opportunity from exploiting his position of power.

He stepped through the door into the long hallway, and his orderlies, Caruso and Summers, followed behind him with humorless expressions.

Dr. Dean could hear the deranged individuals in their cells starting to stir as he walked past each door.

As he came by the first door, he rapped his knuckle against the window and peered in at the large, muscular patient in ripped attire.

It was Abel Unstable, his mercurial oaf who had once escaped his control at the beginning of GPW Season 2.

Dr. Dean had spent Golden Pro Wrestling’s second and third season trying to track him down, but he ultimately regained Abel under his control. Dr. Dean then performed some experimental medications on Abel over the course of Season 4 and was pleased that he had firmly mastered the lumbering giant’s will.

“Dear Abel, a new season of Golden Pro Wrestling is about to begin. Your services will be required, of course.”

Abel was nothing more than his ultimate weapon whenever needed.

The Orderlies smirked behind Dr. Dean as the GMPI’s head psychiatrist continued to the next door. Dr. Dean peered in once again and saw the familiar twisted face of Sicko.

Dr. Dean’s most violent patient sneered back into the window at Dr. Dean while clutching the Golden Pro Wrestling Hardcore Championship belt. Perhaps when he was younger, he would have been perturbed by the sadistic glare the doctor considered to himself.

Again, Dr. Dean rapped a knuckle against the window.

“My young Jared,” Dr. Dean said calmly. “Your second season as the champion of object-derived misery must begin. Prepared yourself.”

Orderlies Summers and Caruso both followed Dr. Dean to the next cell and watched Dr. Dean knock his knuckles against the window.

“Hello, Mr. Decade. How are you?”

Inside the cell a man stirred on his bunk under the thin covers he was provided.

It was Decade: Dr. Dean’s newest patient and current GPW Silver Champion.

“How has his behavior been since Starfall?” Dr. Dean asked the Orderlies.

“Not too bad, Dr. Dean,” Orderly Summers replied.

“Sometimes we have to wrangle him before we take him out to the cage for rec time, but he doesn’t struggle for long,” Orderly Caruso chimed in.

Over the course of Season 5, Dr. Dean had taken Decade under his “care” and provided delivered his signature, experimental medicine. The result wasn’t a miraculous cure for the young wrestler from Canada, but rather a complete mental collapse.

The voices within Decade’s had finally overtaken him, but it had led Decade to victory and possession of Golden Pro Wrestling’s second-best prize.

Dr. Dean looked back at his two henchmen, The Orderlies, and grinned.

“Summers, Caruso, I have a feeling that Season 6 is going to be another great season for us. Muahaha…”
