The familiar thumps of a 250-pound training dummy being picked and dropped to the ring floor emanated throughout the Golden Pro Wrestling Academy gym.
Golden Ben Miller, the Golden Warhorse of GPW, grunted each time he scooped up the bag, turned it over and slammed to the mat.
From the side of the ring, the elderly Golden Glen Miller watched silently while leaning on his cane.
Golden Glen Miller was a legend of professional wrestling nationwide, but since he launched Golden Pro Wrestling, he was more than that. He was a proud grandfather to GPW’s biggest star.
That said, Golden Glen Miller knew stardom wasn’t what drove his grandson. His grandson, GMB, had spent the past four seasons of GPW distracted by side quests and disappointment.
After losing a shot at the Pure Gold Championship to Violence at the end of Season 1, GBM had had his hands full:
First, he solved the mystery of who was attacking the Golden Pros over the course of Season 2, which turned out to be Shotcaller under the direction of Commissioner Parker Meloche.
Then, in Season 3, he expelled so much energy trying to earn his way into the Fort Knocks match that he ultimately came up short in the bloody grand finale.
Afterward, GBM spent Season 4 battling the cultural headwinds of DEI, which culminated in an entertaining victory over the San Francisco SJW, Awoke.
Season 5 was yet another adventure for Golden Ben Miller’s as he fought an interstellar war to free Flip Costa from Draconium.
Golden Glen Miller continued to gaze in awe of GBM’s intensity in the ring while the young man practiced the family’s signature scoop slam.
There was something different about Golden Ben Miller this year.
He wanted the Pure Gold Championship, and nothing was going to stop him.
